This week’s words were:


I thought this painting by William McGregor Paxton nicely illustrated my haiku. It was probably some sort of household book, but I like to think this housemaid was sneaking some time to read a novel. 🙂

  1. You wrote a clever and light hearted haiku. I liked this and you found a nice illustration, too. I think a maid can try to read between her work “duties,” Merril. 🙂

      • Yes, this is always a possibility at Downton Abbey, Merril. At another’s home, you may need to take the book into the “lou” or bathroom, close the door and make sounds of swishing with one hand or something inventive, so they will assume you are cleaning it! 🙂
