November 8: A Tanka

leaves glow golden, red

fire-light streams down from trees,

radiant magic

transient and eternal,

with hope I cast my ballot.

As I walked to the polling place, still dressed in my gym attire, I was struck by the beauty of the leaves that glowed in the sunlight.

  1. This was a special and fun photograph of you, Merril. I liked your t-shirt! πŸ™‚
Your face and pretty auburn hair are radiant like the leaves you described.
Too bad this disastrous episode had to wipe our smiles off our faces! 😦

    • Thanks, Robin.
I guess my hair does look reddish in the photo. It’s actually brown with lighter highlights, that are more prominent in this photo. I’m radiant because it was such a beautiful, sunny day–and I’d just come from spin class and then a walk to the polling place. I don’t know if you saw my comment, but the shirt actually says “PsycHOTic.” πŸ™‚ I have one in blue, too.
Yes, I am still devastated and unbelieving.
