Naiad

Her soul’s secret song

shimmers, she shares it gently

leads him, calls to him

from the river, where brave rush,

rave, or walk to inner light

This is for Colleen Chesebro’s Weekly Poetry Challenge. The prompt words were lead and share. I’ve also used Secret Keeper’s words for this week: BRAVE | RUSH | RAVE | WALK | INNER

  1. I love everything about this, biased because it’s a favorite genre and so are the preraphaelite painters and nymph related far but irrespective, this is so good, and if anything having sought out the genre has made me raise my expectations so that means you nailed it

  2. The combination of a “secret song” and the river, which leads even brave astray, added mystery to this poem.
Merril, those were three unique ways (“rush, rave or walk to inner light”) the river’s power influences the brave.
