This tanka is for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday, using synonyms for the words experience and new.
Anticipation—
through space and time I travel
novel paths explored
treasures buried in a phrase
discovered, they haunt my dreams
I went to West Deptford Township Public Library yesterday to return my books and renew one. Of course, I left with a new stack, even though I have books piled by my bed and a long list on my Kindle.
A tip of the hat to people who still use the library.
There are always people in that library, Frank. I think most libraries now offer many services and events for their local communities–and of course, books, too! 🙂
Yep …. after all, not all books have to be bought. ….. Plus libraries are stayed with the times by circulating eBooks.
Even though I buy books, the library sees me often. I have piles everywhere in the house. When my husband is out of town, I sleep with books all over the bed. “Oh, nothing furnishes a room like books.”
I think I’ll check on Emma in the Night . . .
I agree with that quotation, Marian! 🙂 I forget what Emma in the Night is about, but it must have looked interesting. Haha!
I like your comment about the hidden treasure in a phrase. It will haunt me for the rest of the day 🙂
Oh, how wonderful. Thank you for telling me, Jane! 🙂
It’s a lovely expression 🙂
Thank you!
🙂 @ novel paths
Thank you, Ken. 🙂
I love your “novel paths.” I have four reviews waiting to be written and have just started my fifth read last night. I’m a voracious reader so I understand and respect your passion. A lovely Tanka that brings me happiness! ❤
Thanks so much, Colleen. Sometimes I only have a chance to read for a few minutes before going to sleep, but even so, I love it!
Me too. There’s only so much time in a day!
🙂
Neat
Thanks. 🙂

The book reading sculpture was sweet and your words were, too. I like the expression, “like a well turned phrase.” 🙂
I love the library and their pleasant staff faces and “new” books and “Boomerang” movies. (3 days for new ones, but 7 days for a stack of 20 films or any type of DVD’s.)
Thank you, Robin. As you can tell, I love libraries, too. I used to get movies there, also, but we’re so used to streaming them now, and we don’t even have a DVD player hooked up.
I was only able to read your one post on my break yesterday so will hope to catch up with your poetry and stories. 🙂
Thank you again for looking up the information about Mrs. Painter. ❤ 🌈
Thank you, Robin. 🙂
You’re welcome.
May you discover
“Treasures buried in a phrase”
Sip then dive deeply
Emerge refreshed and renewed
Ready for a good night’s sleep
Aww—thanks so much, Ben! It’s been a long day. Off to do that now. 🙂
