This Tanka is for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday. We were asked to use synonyms for the words destiny and challenge. Today is the beginning of birthday month in our household–both daughters and my husband.
Fate may have spoken
in winter’s chill, buds blossomed,
February changed
forever hearts call—testing–
love answers without a doubt
Beautiful! (K)
Lovely opening salvo for your birthday month 🙂
Thank you, Jane! 🙂
Bringing light to the heart of winter. Nice.
Thank you, Ken.
Perfect for the theme
How lovely. February is the harbinger of Spring. Let’s hope it comes quickly! ❤
Thank you, Colleen. Yes, let’s hope so!
This poem gave me chills… the good kind. February can be a cruel month, unless you view it as you do here. Happy birthday to your daughters and husband. My mom turns 94 on Feb. 28.
How sweet of you to tell me that the poem gave you chills! Thank you for the birthday wishes to my family members (also my mother-in-law). Happy Birthday to you mother.
xo
Such a lovely tanka!
Thank you, Dale!
love the juxtaposition of “in winter’s chill, buds blossomed,” and the double meaning of buds for the lives that were born in Feb
Thank you so much for your lovely comment (and perception).
The photograph of your daughters is precious and may they have a very special (new) year ahead. Happy February birthdays to your loved ones, Merril. My youngest brother, Rich, turns 59; my grandson, Micah, turns 9. 💕
