It’s here!ย I SO wish a book like this was not necessary, but unfortunately, it is. I am proud of the effort that my contributors and I have put into it. And seeing one’s book in print never gets old. The Encyclopedia of Rape and Sexual Violence contains twenty long-form entries covering various aspects of rape and sexual violence, both within the U.S. and also the rest of the world. I wrote some of the entries, as well as editing all of them. The book also includes a primary documents section and a list of resources for both the U.S. and many other nations. Your library should probably have a copy.
Congratulations, Merril. You’re right, if only we didn’t need such a resource, but we DO, and in light of (finally) the world opening their eyes to sexual violence and fighting against it, these volumes are imperative.
Thanks so much, Pam!
Sad but needed
Thanks, Beth. Yes, it is sad.
Well done Merril! And what an appropriate day to announce it! Hope every library buys a copy ๐
Thank you very much, Jane! ๐

SO SO SO proud of you Merrill.
Thank you, Candice! ๐
Going to reblog this on my site and I never do that but this is so important. I have the last edition. I’d love to contribute one day. Either way very proud of you.
Aww–thanks so much, Candice! This is actually not a new edition, but a completely different book. This book is two-volumes with twenty long-form articles that cover the U.S/International, giving scope of the problem, controversies, possible solutions, etc. And there is a primary documents section at the end.
Congrats on the release – I know you have worked long and hard on it.
Thank you so much, Jilly!
Congratulations Merril. I too wish it went message but good for you working on this important issue!
Thank you so much, Holly!
An impressive undertaking – will help keep eyes open, will help those who need to speak up DO so.
Thank you very much. I hope it does some good. There is a lot of useful information in the book and resources for survivors and others who may be interested.
A long time in coming, I know. Congratulations. Any chance you can publish the table of contents somewhere?
Thank you very much, Janet.
You can see the table of contents in the “look inside” feature on Amazon.
Congratulations! How impressive, Merril. โค
Thank you very much, Colleen!
Many congratulations on your book seeing the light of day Merril! Itโs bound to be a valuable and much needed resource.
Thank you very much, Susan. There is info about S. Africa in some of the entries, too.

Thank you very much. I appreciate that.
Brava, Merril!
Thank you, Marian!
Congratulations, Merril! I think you’re right. I’ve put it on my to-read (and buy) list. I’ll see about getting a copy to our local library, too.
I wish a book like this wasn’t necessary, either, but appreciate the hard work you put in to give us this resource.
Thank you so much, Robin. It’s a reference book, so I hope your library will consider it. ๐
Congratulations!
Thank you, Claudia!
