I look at the painting. Is it a lesson about hubris? Or that children must make their own mistakes? All I see is father and son, horror and grief.

    • Thank you, Marian. I actually had to go back and look at your post. Sorry–but yes, I remember now–Auden’s poem and the Breughel painting. I like this painting, too. I believe Gowry was a student of Rubins–this one is very similar to the Rubins painting. I’m fascinated by this story.

  1. Hi Merril. Wonderful use of the word nick in your quadrille. I think it is a lesson to all. Don’t fly too high,. There might be bad results.
