I’ve combined a quadrille for dVerse (using some form of the word kick), and a poem for Jane Dougherty’s A Month with Yeats Challenge, Day 7. Today’s quotation:
‘…stars, grown old
In dancing silver-sandalled on the sea,
Sing in their high and lonely melody.’
In the nighttime sea,
the stars sing–
ringing bells in the sky,
they fly,
ensorcelling with their melodies.
Kicking and dancing in twinkling splendor,
they blaze, then die.
Yet their light,
not erased
shimmers faintly in the night,
silvered dust of time and space.
Those can can girls in the sky 🙂
🙂
I do love stars… when I see them. Too much light pollution where I live… need to leave the city I think
We can see stars, but nowhere near as many as in the country. We just saw a movie about Vincent van Gogh called “Loving Vincent.” I have Starry Starry Night going through my head. 🙂
Actually you can probably find a picture for your poem and link it up to next prompt at dVerse too.
Go for a triple challenge! 🙂
That’s lyrically magical and again those last lines to comfort. This is a beauty Merril!!! 👌
Awww–thank you, dear Damien! ❤
No, thank you 🤗
🙂
I love this!
Thank you so much, Beth! 🙂
“silvered dust of time and space” is just so gorgeous.
Thanks so much, De! 🙂
You are weaving magic and science. Marvellous.
Thank you so much. That’s a lovely compliment. 🙂
You are welcome.
Trying to keep up with Mr. Yeats’ ghost and all you talented poets are killing me. 😭
I like the idea of the stars kicking and dancing.
Thank you–I do, too! 🙂
Beautiful, as always, Merril. I love the word “ensorcelling.” The siren song of the stars. 🙂
Thank you, Robin! I hadn’t thought of that–the siren song of the stars. 🙂
I love all these singing stars. This is like a waltz. (K)
Thank you, Kerfe. 🙂
“silvered dust of time and space” – Nice.
Thank you, Ken.
“Ensorcelling” is a beautiful word!
Thank you!
The mesmerising nature of this is exemplified by ‘ensorcelling with their melodies’. Well done
Thank you very much, Derrick. 🙂
Simply beautiful.
Thank you so much!
I love how they shimmer at night & specially love this line: ensorcelling with their melodies.
Thank you very much, Grace!
I shall glide in your poetic sky, using the stars as my guide. Entrancing and stunning!
